Remo is one of the very few artists in India who performs fully live, without backing tracks or lip-sync, whether he's performing alone, with his band, or with just half his band. His performances are known for high-voltage excitement and total audience involvement.

 


SOME OF THE MORE IMPORTANT CONCERTS
IN AND OUTSIDE INDIA


DRESDEN, EAST GERMANY, 1986:
Remo is the first Indian to represent India at an international pop song competition. Among top participants from 20 countries [including Cuba, Nicaragua, Chile, USSR, Bulgaria, etc.], Remo wins 3 international awards [a] The Overall Second Prize, [b] The Loudest and Longest Audience Applause, [c] The Press Critics' Award.

GOA STATEHOOD DAY, May 30, 1987: Invited personally by Mr. Rajiv Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India, to perform at the official function at the palace of the Governor of Goa to mark Goa's attainment of statehood.

FESTIVAL OF INDIA IN THE USSR, JULY 1988: Represents India as the country's highest selling pop-rock artist in a series of concerts held around the then USSR.

TOKYO MUSIC FESTIVAL, 1989: Once again Remo represents India at this prestigious non-competitive festival. Performs his composition 'Bombay City' to overwhelming critical acclaim, backed by the 30-piece Tokyo Pop Orchestra.

THE NATIONAL GAMES, PUNE, 1994: Composes and performs the theme song for the closing ceremony of the Indian National Games to a live audience of 100,000 and a television audience of millions.

CHANNEL 'V' AWARDS, BOMBAY, 1995: Plays bass guitar with Jimmy Page and Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin on guitar and vocals, and Roger Taylor of Queen on drums. Also performs with his own band The Microwave Papadums to great appreciation for being the only fully live act on stage that evening.

GEORGE HARRISON, 1997: Meets and performs for one of his childhood heroes, George Harrison of The Beatles, at a private function in Goa, India.

FILMFARE AWARDS, BOMBAY, February 21, 1999: Performs a duet with Zakir Hussain, world-renowned tabla player. Live audience of 10,000 and television audience of millions.

KALA GHODA FESTIVAL, BOMBAY, February 8, 2003: Performs with Trilok Gurtu, top Indian percussionist based in Germany, who performs and records with international stars such as Sting and Dulce Pontes.

THE AFRO-ASIAN GAMES, HYDERABAD, 2003: Composes and performs a new version of his hit 'The Flute Song' incorporating African and Chinese elements to symbolise the spirit of the Afro-Asian Games. Again, to a live audience of 100,000 and a television audience of millions.

JAMAICA, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO, April 2004: Performs on stage and television with some of the top artists and producers from these islands. Collaborates, co-composes and records tracks with Grammy-winning producers such as Barry O'Hare and Mikie Bennett, and artists like Denise Belfon and Rikki Jai.

BRASILIA, BRASIL. September 2006: Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohans Singh and Brasilian President Dr. Lula sign a historic co-operation treaty between the two countries, and Remo is invited to perform at the official gala dinner which follows. The Press claims: "Remo makes Brasilians dance to his tunes".

"BIG CHILL", GOA, April 2007: The famous British festival of electronic ambient and dance music is held in India for the first time, and Goa is chosen as the obvious venue. Remo is invited to perform with the opening band 'Chilled By Nature' [led by festival promoter Pete Lawrence]. He also jams with 'Cold Cut', the headlining closing band of the festival. Remo has subsequently been invited to perform at the "Big Chill" festival at Eastnor, England, on 3rd August 2007.

"BIG CHILL", Eastnor, England, 3rd & 5th August 2007: Remo performs with 'Chilled by Nature' on 3rd August, Opening Day of the Festival, and with 'Cold Cut' on 5th August, Closing Day of the Festival. Both performances were well appreciated, and Remo received a special ovation from the audience as soon as he started his vocal improvisations and flute playing, and later when Pete Lawrence announced that The Lonely Planet had a whole half-page mention on the Goan musician. "Cold Cut" had two encores from the audience, a rare ocurrence at this festival.
